Swim Groups

The BEAT Watercats offers training and practice groups for swimmers of all ages and ability levels. It is the goal of the BEAT Watercats to offer age specific training for all of our athletes geared towards challenging each individual and developing each individual to the best of THEIR abilities.

Beginners Group

These swimmers, posses little or no experience, will focus on learning the basics of all four competitive strokes, while becoming comfortable in the water and finding a love for the sport. Practices will last 30 minutes.

Coaches: Kalyn Davidson, Issy Acuna, Doug Nelson

Level 1

These swimmers, who possess some competitive experience, will focus on mastering the mechanics of their strokes, turns, and starts while having lots of fun.   Swimmers should be able to swim 50 yards of continuous Freestyle and Backstroke, as well as be familiar with the Butterfly and Breaststroke. Practices will last 45 minutes.

Group Coach:  Doug Nelson

Level 2

This Intermediate group will be composed of swimmers who need a little more “training” but are still focused on skill development. Swimmers should be able to swim 50 yards of all four competitive strokes, dive and be familiar with competitive racing turns. Practices will last 1 hour.

Group Coach: Issy Acuna, Kalyn Davidson

Level 3

This group will be composed of the more advanced swimmers who are capable of training continuously for over an hour and a half. Typically these swimmers are already involved in a year-round swimming program.  Their training will consist of everything from the most basic to the most challenging aspects of swimming. Practices will last 60-75 minutes.
